2003 OCA SAN MATEO SCHOLARSHIPSJune 1, 2003 The Organization of Chinese Americans-San Mateo County is pleased to announce the following scholarship awards and their recipients. This year OCA will award $12,000 to 12 students through eight scholarship programs generously donated by individual and corporate community leaders.
Philip & Louise Wang Scholarships The winner of the Monica and Adrian Arima Scholarship is Sunil Raut of Carlmont High School. He plans to attend Caņada College or the College of San Mateo to pursue a career in Management. Michelle So of Aragon High School is this year's recipient of the Elizabeth Tsai Scholarship. Michelle plans to attend UC Davis to study Biology. Kenny Takahashi of Aragon High School has been awarded the Rose & George Obana Scholarship for Academic Excellence and Community Service. He will be attending UC Irvine to study Civil Engineering. Cory Chen of Mills High School is the first winner of the Dr. Chen Chung Ho and Mei Ly Ho Scholarship. Cory plans to attend UC Davis to study Business and the Social Sciences. Corey is also a co-president of the Young Organization of Chinese Americans (YOCA) this year. Anna Lee of Aragon High School is this year's recipient of the Bank of America ~ OCA San Mateo County Scholarship. She will attend Stanford University in the Fall. Anna is ranked #1 in her class of 370 students, has a GPA of 4.39 on a 4.0 scale and scored a 1560 (out of a perfect 1600) on her combined SAT scores. Jonita Kumari of Carlmont High School is the winner of the SBC ~ OCA San Mateo County Scholarship. She will attend Caņada College to pursue a career in Nursing. William Cheung of Crystal Springs Uplands School is the recipient of the Wells Fargo ~ OCA San Mateo Scholarship for Leadership. William, who is also a member of YOCA, will be attending UC Berkeley in the Fall to double major in Mechanical Engineering and Business with an intent of International Business Development. OCA San Mateo congratulates all of the 2003 Scholarship Recipients and is excited to be a part of their bright future.
