Speak and Lead

WANT TO IMPROVE YOUR LEADERSHIP AND PUBLIC SPEAKING SKILLS?

The San Mateo County Chapter of OCA is accepting applications for its premier “Speak and Lead with Pride” program, a hands-on course designed to teach the art of public speaking and leadership skills to high school students who may not have had any previous training. After completion of the 6-week course, participants will gain self-confidence with enhanced public speaking and leadership abilities. The course concludes with a recognition ceremony and speech competition for a $500 cash prize.

When: Six Saturdays, 10am - Noon, all in 2017
Feb 4, Feb 11, Feb 18, Feb 25, Mar 4 & Mar 11,

Final Speech Competition & Recognition Ceremony – tentatively scheduled for Thursday, Mar 16, 6-7:30pm
Where: Foster City Recreation Center
Cost: Free

Due to the nature of the course, space is limited. So please apply early.

Applicants should be high school students who identify as being Asian Pacific American. Applicants must also commit to attend all six Saturday classes plus the Recognition Ceremony and Speech Contest, tentatively scheduled for the evening of March 16. In addition, we are planning to have a Regional Speech Contest with our Sacramento chapter on a Saturday in mid September, 2017.

Applicants must submit a recommendation letter from their school counselor or teacher and their latest school transcript.
