Members of SMOCA were saddened by the unexpected death of former chapter president Newsy Yan on the 2nd of December, 2009 [coroner's date]. She was the youngest of five children born to Ke Yan and Yin Wang in Beijing, China. Newsy obtained her MBA from UCLA and her Juris Doctor from San Francisco Law School, graduating with distinction and high honors. In addition to her work with OCA, Newsy also served on the board of the Women's Recovery Association. Everyone who met her will miss Newsy's kindness, compassion, musical talent, and quick smile.
